As the dirt turns.....
I've decided to stay home this weekend, in an effort to make final decisions on brickwork, trim and shingles for a new home that is currently being built. In some ways, I actually enjoy being off the water from time to time, due to the fact that I can sleep in; besides, standing waist-high in 32 F water tends to take a toll on my aging joints. In any case, I do find it strange that so many people point out caveats about building a new home, which I think in many ways is simply perhaps a subconcious justification for living in a less than ideal setting ~ though I am not fearful of microbes or bacteria, it gives me some sense of comfort knowing that the sinks & tubs that I bathe in will not have previously been used by some wrinkly old geezer. Subsequently, I have decided to document the construction of the new home via photographs, though the accompanying photos and text will be the first and last mention of that project; after all, this little space is chiefly reserved for all things related to fishing........On a side note, the title of this submission could also refer to an inaccurate and grossly inappropriate thread I read on an outdoors messageboard, though I would have to replace the term "dirt" with "dung" or perhaps even worse.....
Fishing in large groups can, at times, be a mis-representation of anglers in their art. Loud, boisterous actions with no regard for others on the river is not only rude but disrespectful. If you want to sing, dance, and booze it up, go "clubbing".
ReplyDeleteI wholeheartedly agree. Johnny Aquavelva and his merry band of noisemakers are so quick to label other people as "Chesters", yet they are probably the worst offenders. The idea of a Pig Roast at Port Albert on the opening day of trout season would indicate that there is plenty of opportunity for song, dance and drink; I will be quietly fishing some obscure section of the middle Maitland on that day.
